12.12.12: Bolstering the Truth

by Kimberly Ann on December 9, 2008

This is PART 10 in a 12 part series for the Year of Sagely Living project, entitled 12.12.12: A journey of self-discovery for a lopsided soul.

Thanks for tuning in for another round of 12.12.12 antics. Please note that this submission is way past due, for I experienced a flagrant two months of fear and loathing of yet another deadline to cross off my list of to-do’s. However, it is my attempt at a direct reflection for October’s inherent metallic meets water nature (my now-obvious, self-proclaimed, self-induced archnemesis). The shapes I created over the year were hardly close to finished, and remained highlighted in a bright green neon hue with that “oh, there’s still just so much to do”, and ultimately my tasks fell far from my own self-perceived ideals of perfection. Therefore, dear reader, here is my rendition of a last-minute scrambler, procrastination at it’s muddied best.

The homework from Deepest Health:

October - Kidney, You 酉 (Rooster/owl): Chinese medicine specific skills: This category includes the refinement of Chinese medicine related skills, such as hand techniques in acupuncture. For those not in the field, you might look into developing skills that will help you in your work. Why this pairing? The Kidney is often said to be the root of all skill and expertise. Also, with the cool calm energy of autumn, one can become focused enough to substantially increase specific skills.

So. Refinement, eh? Well, here’s a bare-boned, minimalistic look at what formulated from my personal prescribed trinity for the month of October. Short and sweet, striking to the core of what motivated and moved me through autumn and into the soggy cornflake phase of Portland’s winter wonderland.  Ah, yes, the joys of Time marching forward without my approval. And in light of advice from a dear friend, I shall focus my thoughts using only a handful of words as my medium for expression. It’s a triplet, directly related to my growth and goals for the Year of Sagely Living Project.

I.

Humans are distracted organisms
creating fractals of disharmony

Live your truth

II.

True doctors are farmers of the earth
those knee-deep in compost
tilling the soil
moment to moment tending to self

and planet

III.

Mistakes.
Believe in the imperfections
‘artifacts’ of distracted truth

…because

It is the fertile ground
for new and innovative perspective

I am and remain as lopsided as all get out. Perhaps balance will wobble out of this humanoid with a little gentle nudging by all too-quickly approaching time lines.  Yes! the 12th of December is nigh! I committed to 12 facets of me, a dodecahedron of motivated hedonism. And I’m sitting pretty on a mere ten perspectives of how the sagely advice has cultivated me through the year of 2009. Well… <sigh> … always room to grow I suppose. Here’s to being human.

Oh, I love this, especially number III of your triptych–mistakes! Maybe we could define health as the ability to learn from ours? Thanks for your beautiful, inspiring prose. Julie.
